Proposal put forth to cooperate in supporting public and private partnerships

of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar held a meeting with
a delegation led by Director-General of the Asian Development Bank’s East Asia
Department Teresa Kho.
Expressing his appreciation of
ADB’s cooperation in solving pressing issues in the capital city including
congestion, ger area redevelopment and housing, the Ulaanbaatar Mayor proposed
cooperating in issuing bonds, creating a fund, supporting public and private
partnerships, implementing projects under concession agreements, and improving the
property and debt management and the capacity of Ulaanbaatar city government.
The ADB representatives
highlighted the importance of congestion and housing projects and that the bank
is providing technical assistance.
Director-General of ADB East
Asia Department Teresa Kho said the Ulaanbaatar city government has to provide all-round
support to the highly-significant model hospital project to be implemented in
districts.
Governor D.Sumiyabazar
undertook to support the model hospital project and put forth a proposal to
cooperate with ADB on projects to digitize the investment, urban planning, and
debt management systems of the city government as part of the Mongolia government’s
goal to become ‘Digital Mongolia’.
The sides agreed to explore opportunities for further cooperation in upgrading public transport services, reducing traffic congestion and urban planning.
