Rural outreach program organized in Dalanzadgad

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. During a rural outreach program in Dalanzadgad, Umnogovi
Province, the Mongolian Association of State Alumni (MASA) members and
volunteers organized a series of events from morning to evening for over 500
local high school and college students, youths, and teachers. Typical events
include guest speaker talks, career counseling, experience sharing
conversations, and scholarship opportunities for high school students. MASA
members who are educated in the U.S. shared their experiences in America, how
they chose their majors, and what they are doing in their chosen field.
Mongolian Food Security project: This project is focused on providing reliable and affordable innovative
solutions for agricultural water consumption in the Umnugovi desert,
additionally the project team hopes to promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural-led
economic growth by providing jobs for the local community.
During
this visit the SoA team was able to meet with key community and governmental stakeholders
to include the Provincial Governor, Department of Agriculture, and local
community leaders. The local community highlighted the new opportunity to
become economically independent while ensuring they have adequate food
resources for over 20 families in the Umnugovi desert.
With the support of the governmental stakeholder’s local Mongolian media was
able to attend the event and interviewed both the SoA representatives to
include a Project Manager on the ground Byambasuren Chuluunbat a Fulbright
scholarship recipient and a University of Boulder graduate in sustainable and
renewable energy.
