Top wrestling athletes of Asia compete in Ulaanbaatar after 21 years

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 2022 Asian Wrestling Championships took place in the capital city of Mongolia between April 19 and 24. The senior championship tournament was hosted by Mongolia after 21 years. 

Over 250 athletes representing 20 countries, namely Mongolia, Bahrein, South Korea, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Palestine, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Singapore, Syria, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, India, and Japan, competed in the continental championships.

From the national team of athletes, female athletes won 4 silver and 5 bronze medals, while male athletes won 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. 


On the last day of the championship, matches took place for the men’s 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, and 125 kg weight classes. D.Orgilokh and E.Batmagnai claimed the silver and bronze medals in the 92 kg and 125 kg weight classes respectively.

The team of Iran lead the rankings by winning 6 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals.

The team of India was the runner up with 1 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals, while the team of Kazakhstan claimed third place with 1 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
