National launch event of Business and Human Rights Global Project held

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The national launch event of the ‘Business and Human Rights’ (B+HR) Global Project funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme took place on June 15.
Mr. Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia and Ms. Nashida Sattar, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Mongolia highlighted a crucial role that private sector can play in conducting responsible business through respecting human rights in their business operations as well as the government’s efforts in adopting and implementing National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.
Mr. Livio Sarandrea, Global Policy Advisor, Business and
Human Rights, UNDP, presented about UNDP’s work in support of responsible
business practices, Ms. Akiko Sato, Liaison Officer, Business and Human Rights
Project, UNDP Asia Pacific, presented about current landscape of Business and
Human Rights in Japan.
B+HR Global Project is being implemented in 18 countries
including Mongolia and it aims to build capacity of businesses and their supply
chains in conducting human rights due diligence reflected in the UN Guiding
Principles on Business and Human Rights.
