Certificate on Khuvsgul Lake’s inclusion in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves presented

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh
received UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay on July 10.
During the meeting, the President expressed gratitude to Ms.Audrey
Azoulay for visiting Mongolia on occasion of its 60th anniversary of accession
to UNESCO, and expressed commitment to expanding cooperation in all aspects to preserve
the pristine natural beauty of Mongolia and protect the tangible and intangible
cultural heritage.
In turn, Ms. Audrey Azoulay said that Mongolia is a country
with unique geographical, historical and cultural features, and expressed
satisfaction with the active development of bilateral cooperation. Ms.
Audrey also handed a Certificate confirming the inclusion of Khuvsgul Lake
Biosphere Reserve in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves over to the
President of Mongolia.
The President expressed heartfelt gratitude, on behalf
of the people of Mongolia, for the inscription of Khuvsgul Lake that holds more
than 70 percent of Mongolia’s freshwater resources and 2 percent of the world’s
freshwater resources on the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. He also
added that Mongolia would pay special attention to the preservation of humankind
heritage and culture existing in the territory of Mongolia.
