President receives Foreign Minister of Laos

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. President U.Khurelsukh received Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR Saleumxay
Kommasith on September 4.
The President emphasized that the visit by the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR to Mongolia within the framework
of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between
Mongolia and Laos would be an important impetus for the development of
traditional friendly relations between the two countries in the coming new sixty
years.
Mentioning that relations and cooperation with Southeast
Asian countries play an important role in Mongolia's foreign policy towards
Asia and the Pacific region, the President said he hopes that the landlocked
countries will overcome this time of pandemic and tense international situation
through their joint effort.
The Lao PDR expressed its support for Mongolia’s initiatives
aimed at combating climate change and desertification, such as the ‘One Billion
Trees’ national movement, thus it is delighted with the decision to boost bilateral
cooperation in afforestation.
President U.Khurelsukh invited his Lao counterpart Thongloun
Sisoulith to visit Mongolia. In turn, the Lao Minister also handed over a
letter from President Thongloun Sisoulith, inviting his Mongolian counterpart
to visit at his convenience, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary
of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Laos.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on bilateral
relations and cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, investment, agriculture,
education, health, tourism, transport logistics and environment and the international
and regional issues of mutual interest.
