Mongolian men and women’s wrestling team qualifies for World Cup

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 2022 World Wrestling
Championships took place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, on September
10-18. Mongolian men’s and women’s freestyle wrestling teams participated in
the competition and claimed three silver and two bronze medals, which made the
team rank 11th on the medal standings out of 74 countries.
D. Otgonjargal in women's wrestling 50 kg final, B. Khulan
in women’s 53 kg, and M. Lkhagvagerel in the heaviest weight of men or 125 kg,
won silver medals, while an athlete Z. Zanabazar in men’s 57 kg and N. Narankhuu
in men’s 61 kg claimed the bronze medals. A distinction of these medals is that
four out of these five medals were captured in the Olympic weight class.
In the team standings, the men’s team ranked fourth with 68
points (USA-198, Iran-150, Japan-70), and women’s team took 4th place
after Japan, USA, and China. As a result, the men’s and women's teams qualified
for the World Cup to be held next December. The first eight teams participate
in the World Cup by invitation.
The freestyle wrestling team of Mongolia grabbed three
silver and two bronze medals in the World Wrestling Championships, making it
the highest achievement since 2015.
