“Negotiating a Free Trade Agreement” capacity building workshop being held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Following a request by the Government of Mongolia, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organizing the “Negotiating a Free Trade Agreement” capacity-building workshop on October 10-13.


State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia N.Ankhbayar and UN ESCAP Director of Trade, Investment and Innovation Division Rupa Chanda gave the opening statements for the workshop.


Over 80 representatives of more than 20 organizations, including ministries, agencies, universities, and the national chamber of commerce and industry, are participating in the workshop.


The event is being implemented as a part of the agenda of “Empowerment of the negotiating capacity of Mongolian officials to establish a free trade agreement” in accordance with Government resolution No.48 of 2018. Through organizing a series of training, Mongolia is aiming to set up a national negotiation team.
