Silver and Bronze Medals from Paris Grand Slam

Ulaanbaatar, February 6, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The
world judo tournament, the first Grand Slam of this year took place in Paris
between February 4-5. Mongolian 13 judokas wrestled on the first day of the
Paris Grand Slam, and two of them have already bagged medals for the Mongolian
team.
Specifically, Battogtokh Erkhembayar won the silver
medal in the men’s -66 kg category while Odgerel Uranbayar claimed the bronze
medal in the men’s -73 kg category.
B. Erkhembayar contended against the world champion AN Baul (KOR) in round two with a 1-0 win, following NURILLAEV Sardor (UZB) in the quarter-final, KHYAR Walide (FRA) in the semi-final with no defeats. Unfortunately, in the final, he lost against IADOV Bogdan (UKR).
O. Uranbayar defeated judokas from France, Cuba, and Algeria in the first three rounds. In repechage, he beat PELIVAN Petru (MDA) and claimed the bronze medal after defeating KANG Heoncheol from Korea.
