New Campaign "Mongol Script Literate" Launched
SocietyUlaanbaatar, May 8, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On Sunday, May 7, 2023, the 20th-anniversary ceremony of National Language and Script Day took place outside the National Library of Mongolia. The event was opened by D. Bum-Ochir, the Adviser on Culture and Religious Policy to the President of Mongolia, who emphasized the importance of every Mongolian learning the Mongol Script and declared it a duty of virtue.
The ceremony encompassed the conferring of the
"Promoter of National Literary Culture" award by the Ministry of
Education and Culture and awards to the best participants of the 21st Mongol
Script Competition named after People's Teacher D. Choijalsuren, and the
"Mongol Script’s Electronic Writing-II" national competition.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of National Language and Script Day, the National Library of Mongolia and the "Zanabazar Art
Festival" jointly initiated the campaign "Mongol Script
Literate" to create a map of Mongolia with signatures. By signing the map,
individuals pledge to take responsibility for possessing, disseminating, and
passing on their mother tongue, Mongol script, and cultural heritage.
An exhibition entitled "Timelines of Mongol
Script" was opened in a Ger constructed outside the National Library of
Mongolia which will run until the 12th of this month.
