Society
Ulaanbaatar, August 27, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian Organic Green Food Association is organizing the “Vegan Festival - 2023” in Ulaanbaatar on August 26-27, 2023, under the theme “Vegan is the Solution.” Mongolians are celebrating their second annual vegan festival at the statue and memorial garden dedicated to Yavuukhulan Begz, a famous Mongolian poet.
This Festival, coinciding with “World Day for the End of Speciesism,” promotes veganism as a solution for a sustainable future.
The Festival features a variety of activities, including food stalls, live music, and educational workshops. Visitors can sample vegan dishes from local restaurants, learn about the benefits of a plant-based diet, and meet with other vegans and vegetarians.
The “Vegan Festival - 2023” is also raising awareness about the environmental and ethical impacts of animal agriculture. According to the United Nations, the effects of animal agriculture on the environment and climate are vast: It is a leading cause of deforestation, it's responsible for significant biodiversity loss and pollution and emits large amounts of greenhouse gases, particularly methane.
"The Vegan Festival is a great opportunity for people to learn about the benefits of a plant-based diet and how they can make a difference for the planet," said G. Munkhbat, the Founder of the Mongolian Organic Green Food Association. He said, "We hope that this Festival will inspire people to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle."
Here are some of the highlights of the Festival:
- Food stalls from local vegan restaurants
- Live music and performances
- Yoga for Public
- Educational workshops on the benefits of a plant-based diet, the environmental impact of animal agriculture, and animal welfare
- Information booths from vegan organizations
The Vegan Festival - 2023 is open to the public and is free to attend.
