Young Leaders Discuss Bilateral Relations and Cooperation

Ulaanbaatar, October 17, 2023 /MONTSAME/. A Young Leaders' Meeting of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia on October 16, 2023.


The South Korean delegation was led by Choi Yong-jun, Director General for Northeast Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is composed of young diplomats, political party representatives, and young Mongolists.


At the outset of the Meeting, Mongolian State Secretary Ankhbayar Nyamdorj said that relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea have deepened to the level of Strategic Partnership and stressed the importance of youth participation, initiative, and leadership in developing relations between the two countries. State Secretary N. Ankhbayar expressed his hope that the young leaders from South Korea, during their visit to Mongolia, would befriend young Mongolian diplomats and learn more about Mongolian history, culture, and customs. Mr. Ankhbayar also expressed his aspiration that they would contribute to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and the further development of relations between the two countries.


At the Meeting, the participants made presentations and held in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations and cooperation, the current socio-economic situation of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, major projects and programs implemented in the two countries, and issues of mutual interest.

 

An exchange program of young leaders between Mongolia and South Korea was first launched in 2022, at the initiative of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries. The first meeting was successfully held in Seoul at the end of 2022.
