Dominance of Mongolian Players at World Amateur Chess Championship 2023

Ulaanbaatar, November 11, 2023 /MONTSAME/.  The World Amateur Chess Championship 2023 organized by the Omani Chess Committee in partnership with the International Chess Federation took place in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman, on November 2-11, 2023.


In total, 19 Mongolian players took part in the World Championship 2023.


Amarsaikhan Dashtogtokh won 8 victories in a row in the eight U-2000 sections and secured gold to become a two-time World Amateur Champion. He clinched his first title in the Amateur Chess Championship in 2019. In the Open U-1700 category, Danzanjunai Ganbat emerged as the winner, notching up 8/9.


In the Women's category U-1700, Anujin Bat-Amgalan beat Kenyan Wanjiru Kimani in a crucial last-round encounter to claim gold. In the Women U-2000 category, Badamkhand Norovsambuu claimed the gold.
