Delegation of State Great Khural Meet Chinese Vice Minister of Transport

Ulaanbaatar, December 6, 2023 /MONTSAME. The Mongolian delegation led by Enkh-Amgalan Byambasuren, Member of the State Great Khural of Mongolia and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy is paying a Working Visit to the People's Republic of China (PRC). The Mongolian delegation met with Vice Minister of Transport of the PRC Li Yang Vice Minister of Transport of the PRC Li Yang on December 5, 2023.
At
the onset of the Meeting, Chairman of the Standing Committee B. Enkh-Amgalan
noted that next year will mark remarkable anniversaries of the establishment of
friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two
countries and between the legislative bodies. He
recalled his visit to China four years ago on the occasion of the 70th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and
China and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship and
Cooperation and held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Transport Li
Xiaopeng. Chairman B. Enkh-Amgalan expressed gratitude to the staff of the
Ministry of Transport of the PRC for timely support during the COVID-19
pandemic.
Mr. B. Enkh-Amgalan noted that
friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Mongolia and
China have been developing rapidly in recent years and the increasing frequent
reciprocal high and highest-level visits have an important impact on enhancing
political mutual trust and strengthening friendship between the two countries.
Trade
between Mongolia and China is expected to reach USD 15 billion by the end of
2023. Chairman B. Enkh-Amgalan highlighted the importance of developing
bilateral road and rail transport infrastructure and e-commerce platform
infrastructure in boosting trade between the two countries further.
He asked the Chinese part to pay
attention to the realization of the Memorandum of Cooperation on renewing the
Railway Agreement signed in 1955, establishing a new direction in air transport,
and cooperating on the construction of eastern vertical railways.
Vice Minister of Transport Li
Yang thanked the honorary guests for the visit and noted that he highly appreciates
Chairman B. Enkh-Amgalan's contribution to the development of the road and
transport sector between the two countries during his tenure as Minister of
Roads and Transportation of Mongolia. He briefed on activities carried out by
the Ministry of Roads and Transport of China and cooperation in the road, and transport
sector of the two countries and emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial
cooperation in rail and air transport.
The
parties exchanged views on possibilities of improving road transport and rail
transit and measures that need to be taken in bringing the relations and
cooperation between the two countries to a new level and ensuring peace and
sustainable development in the region.
On the
same day, the Mongolian delegation visited the Embassy of Mongolia in China.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the PRC T. Badral
briefed on high-level visits of the two countries in 2023, trade and border
ports cooperation as well as works carried out by the Embassy.
Chairman B. Enkh-Amgalan presented the policies of the Great Khural of Mongolia and the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy to the Embassy staff. The Culture and Information Center of Mongolia at the Mongolian Embassy opened in Beijing as the first Mongolian cultural center established abroad. Since its establishment in October 2022, the Center has organized more than 50 events to promote Mongolia.
