Deputy Foreign Minister Amartuvshin Participates in the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, January 24, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs G. Amartuvshin participated in the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Kampala, Republic of Uganda, on 19-20 January, representing the Government of Mongolia.
The Heads of government of 28 countries and 52 high-level representatives gathered at the Summit. The Non-Aligned Movement is a mechanism of cooperation between developing countries aimed at jointly defending their positions and interests on pressing international issues.
The NAM was founded in 1961 with 25 members, and it now has 120 countries as members. The member states of the NAM constitute two-thirds of the United Nations' membership and represent 55 percent of the world's population.
