Prime Minister of Mongolia Expresses Gratitude to Japanese Government for Humanitarian Assistance

Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Igawahara Masaru on March 25, 2024. Ambassador Igawahara Masaru announced that the Government of Japan has decided to provide humanitarian material aid to Mongolia to overcome the dzud and handed over the letter sent by Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida to Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai.

State Great Khural of Mongolia and Inter-Parliamentary Union Sign Memorandum of Understanding
Ulaanbaatar, March 28, 2024. /MONTSAME/. The 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) took place on March 23-27, 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland. Deputy Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Munkhbaatar Lkhagva met with Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungon. The two sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation between the State Great Khural of Mongolia and the IPU. During the meeting, Deputy Chairman L. Munkhbaatar and Secretary-General Chungon signed an agreement to extend the Memorandum of Understanding established in 2022 between the State Great Khural of Mongolia and the IPU until 2025. Consequently, both parties unanimously expressed that the extension of the Memorandum signifies the expansion of cooperation between the two sides and the strengthening of mutual trust.

Tulga, Minister of Mongolia, and Chairman of the National Committee for Port Revival, has been instructed to organize and prepare for the 24-hour operation of Zamiin-Uud-Ereen port from April 1 to September 30, 2024.

Sengesamdan Ulziikhutag Won the "Super Brain" Show
Ulaanbaatar, March 28, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Sengesamdan Ulziikhutag, Head Teacher of the Mongolian Intellectual Academy, International Grand Master of Memory, Asian Memory Champion, and Coach of the Mongolian team, emerged victorious in the popular TV show “Super Brain” in the People’s Republic of China. His opponent was Guo Feirong, who had previously defeated the 11-time Super Brain Champion, three-time All-China Champion Zhang Xinrong, and the 2023 World Champion Huang Jin Yao. Sengesamdan was declared the winner of this show by completing the given task in 13 minutes without any mistakes. His opponent completed the task seven minutes later than the Mongolian athlete.

First Mongolian Cyclist to Compete in the Spanish Volta Ciclista a Catalunya
Ulaanbaatar, March 27, 2024 /MONTSAME/. In recent years, Mongolian cyclists have been actively participating in professional cyclist competitions of the Union Cycliste Internationale. International Master of Sports S. Jambaljamts made history by becoming the first Mongolian cyclist to compete in the 103rd edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, a prestigious seven-stage race considered one of the world's highest-class competitions.Jambaljamts completed the 1173.4 km race in 30 hours, 18 minutes, and 53 seconds, earning the 132nd position overall. Notably, he performed exceptionally well on the mountainous terrain, securing the 26th position and contributing six points to his team. S. Jambaljamts' team, "Burgos BH" team took the 19th place in the competition in which 25 teams participated.

Kazakh Rapper Jah Khalib to Perform in Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar, March 27, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Kazakhstan's best rapper and artist Jah Khalib, known to Mongolians for his songs "Medina", "The Angel Constellation", and "Leila", will hold a full-length concert in Mongolia on August 17, 2024. The concert is being organized by “DD Entertainment” and will take place at “Shoppy Park.” As part of the event, 10,000 m² of the area will be transformed into a lawn, and two super VIP areas are planned to be constructed.

Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai: Zamiin-Uud Border Port Meets International Standards
Ulaanbaatar, March 27, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai visited the ongoing construction of the passenger and cargo transport complex at the Zamiin-Uud border port on March 24, 2024. As part of the Port Revival initiative under the "New Revival Policy," the port has undergone extensive renovation and expansion to align with international standards. The total area has been expanded eightfold, accommodating a sevenfold increase in capacity for passenger cars and tripling the capacity for large cargo vehicles.The Prime Minister emphasized, “The primary objective of the "New Revival Policy" is to modernize the port infrastructure. Additionally, with the completion of the expansion and modernization of the Zamiin-Uud port, the main economic and trade gateway of Mongolia, it is now compliant with international standards. Previously, the Zamiin-Uud port handled approximately 900 passengers and 100 vehicles per hour. Now, following upgrades, these numbers have significantly risen to 5,000 passengers and 500 vehicles per hour. The port now operates 24 hours a day, with a capacity to serve up to 20,000 individuals daily, marking a substantial increase in its ability to handle passengers and goods.”

At the regular session of the Cabinet on March 20, 2024, a working group responsible for increasing the supply of meat prepared to meet the food needs of Ulaanbaatar’s population during the spring season and prevent price inflation made a presentation.In connection with the presentation, the relevant individuals were tasked with studying and addressing the possibility of increasing domestic meat reserves by a certain percentage from mutton and beef prepared for international export by private sector entities and enterprises.

Amendments Made to the Regulations for Granting Child Monetary Allowances
Ulaanbaatar, March 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. At the regular session of the Cabinet on March 20, 2024, amendments were made to the regulations for granting child monetary allowances.For each child under the age of 14 living in a specialized orphanage, the orphanage will open an account and deposit the child's money in the bank. However, for each child aged 14 and older, a current account will be opened. In this account, 80 percent of the child's money will be deposited in the bank, while the remaining 20 percent will be managed by the child. Additionally, this account will be equipped with an electronic card.

Memorandum of Cooperation Signed on Infrastructure Financing

Khasarkhan Ilkhan: Domesticated Eagles Get Released Back into the Wild after Ten Years
Ulaanbaatar, March 11, 2024. /MONTSAME/. One of the distinctive features of Mongolian winter tourism, the “Eagle Festival - 2024” was held for the 18th time at Chinggisiin Khuree Tourist Complex at the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar City on March 9-10, 2024. During the Festival, an eagle hunters’ competition was organized, with Ts. Jenisbek earning first place, followed by I. Khasarkhan in second, and Ch. Elbek claiming third place. In anticipation of the Mongolian Kazakhs’ Nauryz, a celebration marking the spring season, the Eagle Festival aims at demonstrating and preserving the unique traditions, heritage, and culture of the Kazakh people, passing them on to the next generation. The parade of the eagle hunters dressed in traditional costumes and mounted on horseback, proudly displaying their most trusted friend, "Eagles," on their hands, commences the Festival.

50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Thailand
Ulaanbaatar, March 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Thailand. On the occasion of this historic anniversary, congratulatory letters were exchanged between the Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa noted in his letter that friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries have been developing steadily for half a century and have been deeply strengthened in the international and regional arena, and he expressed the hope that the relations and cooperation with our important partner in Southeast Asia, the Kingdom of Thailand, will be further strengthened in the next 50 years.
