Mongolian Weightlifters Bring Home Two Medals from Asian Championships

Ulaanbaatar, February 14, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships were held at Yunusabad Sports Complex, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, February 3-10, 2024.


Trained by Honored Coach of Mongolia Ts. Khosbayar and Coach B. Densmaa, a team of 14 talented Mongolian athletes demonstrated their skills at the Championships, proudly clinching silver and bronze medals.


At the Championships, G. Anuujin, an International Master of Sports, won Mongolia's first medal in the women's 64 kg category, taking home the silver. This triumph marks her third consecutive podium finish at the continental championships, solidifying her status as a dominant force in the sport.


In the women’s 71 kg category, O. Tugs-Erdene, already a World Championships Bronze Medalist and an Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist, added another bronze to Mongolia's medal haul at the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships. Securing her first medal from the Championships, she now becomes the athlete to have captured medals in the junior, youth, and adults categories.


In addition, as of today, Mongolian weightlifters have brought home a total of 10 gold, 33 silver, and 66 bronze medals in the adults category of the Asian Championship. Among the medals, women claimed seven gold, 15 silver, and 29 bronze, while men earned three gold, 19 silver, and 37 bronze.
