Assessment on Chinggis Khaan International Airport Expansion Ongoing

Ulaanbaatar, July 3, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Nippon Koei, Japan’s international engineering consulting firm is conducting an assessment on expanding the Chinggis Khaan airport, and increasing its capacity.

 

In January 2024, Minister of Road and Transport Development S. Byambatsogt received Kitanaka Takefumi, CEO of "New Ulaanbaatar International Airport" LLC, and exchanged views on increasing the capacity of Chinggis Khaan International Airport.   As an outcome of the meeting, measures for speeding up passenger and luggage flow and eliminating delays and waiting are ongoing in stages at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport.

 

At a meeting held between representatives of the Ministry of Road and Transport Development and the Japanese International Cooperation Organization (JICA) on May 16, 2024, the parties agreed to conduct an assessment on expanding the Chinggis Khaan International Airport, and increasing its capacity. JICA contracted Nippon Koei, Japan’s international engineering consulting firm to conduct the assessment starting from June 12, 2024, until January 31, 2025.

 

Representatives of JICA, and “Nippon Koei” company have introduced the initial report of the assessment to State Secretary of the Ministry for Road and Transport Development of Mongolia Batbold Sandagdorj, and Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia Munkhtuya  and exchanged views, reports the Ministry for Road and Transport Development of Mongolia.
