State Flag Day Observed in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, July 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia celebrates State Flag Day on July 10, every year. On the occasion of the 2233rd anniversary of the establishment of Mongolian Statehood, the 818th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire, the 113th anniversary of the Restoration of National Freedom and Independence, the 103rd anniversary of the People’s Revolution of Mongolia, and State Flag Day, a ceremony for raising the State Flag of Mongolia and a military parade took place at the Sukhbaatar Square.
Over 1500 military and law enforcement officers took part in the parade, which mounted soldiers demonstrated the national flags of different generations, including of Hunnu Empire, the Great Mongol Empire and Bogdo Khanate.
To treat the National Flag with respect and to raise it regularly, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa initiated a draft law to amend the Law on National Symbols and the law amendment was approved by the State Great Khural last May.
In connection with the law, the Head of State issued a Decree to raise the National Flag, the expression of the people's historical traditions, aspirations, unity, justice, and spirit, permanently in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar with the aims of strengthening national unity, cultivating patriotism, passing down statehood and historical traditions to future generations, be proud of the country, and promote the country, President's Spokesperson U. Zolbayar read out the Decree.
On the occasion of National Flag Day today, the 16x8 National Flag was raised in honor at a height of 60 meters in "Ulaanbaatar" Park, in accordance with the Decree.
In his speech on this occasion, President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa underscored, "From today on, the National Flag, which is a symbol of the independence and sovereignty of Mongolia, the unity of Mongolians, and the great power of the Mongolian state, will be raised forever in the capital city. May Mongolia flourish under the power of eternal heaven."
In 2008, the State Great Khural passed the law on the Establishment of State Flag Day. The current flag design of Mongolia was adopted in 1992.
