Ulaanbaatar, July 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 15th International “Altargana” Festival, dedicated to preserving and passing down the Buryat people's heritage, traditions, and customs, as well as gathering Buryat communities around the world, will be held in Bulgan aimag of Mongolia from July 26-28, 2024.

The organizers estimate that approximately 50,000 Buryat people from 34 countries will attend the festival. The event is co-organized by the Office of the President of Mongolia, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, and the Governor’s Office of Bulgan aimag.

This year's festival focuses on introducing and promoting the Buryat language and culture to youth and children to ensure its preservation.

The "Altargana" Festival was first held in 1994 in Dadal soum, Khentii aimag as the "Buryat Song Contest." It has since grown into an international celebration of Buryat folk art and traditional customs, and this year marks its 15th anniversary.
