Ulaanbaatar, October 23, 2024 /MONTSAME/. At the sixteenth ICAO Air Services Negotiation (ICAN2024) Event, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia, Munkhtuya Chimeddorj, met with representatives from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The two sides signed an Air Service Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The signing of the MoU between Mongolia and the Netherlands renews the previous agreement signed on March 9, 1995, and enables direct flights between the two countries.

Additionally, a Memorandum was signed approving the draft of the Air Service Agreement between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This Memorandum finalizes the draft while emphasizing swiftly executing internal legal procedures required for signing and ratifying the Agreement in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Implementing these agreements will expand the international flight network, enhance air relations between nations, open new markets, boost trade and economic sectors, and increase tourism between the two countries.

The ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event has been held annually since 2008. The event facilitates the expansion and modernization of air transport relations between countries while serving as a platform for civil aviation organizations of countries to improve or establish air service agreements within a short time frame. Countries participating in the event engage in multilateral discussions, developing mutually beneficial cooperation, opening markets, and increasing the accessibility of air transport. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia, ICAN contributes to saving time and resources while expanding international partnerships and fostering the development of the civil aviation sectors of participating countries.

Mongolia previously participated in the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event in 2013 and 2018, and again this year. The ICAN2024 Event, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, saw participation from over 700 representatives from 83 countries and two international organizations.
