Ulaanbaatar, December 9, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Tokyo Grand Slam 2024 successfully took place on December 7-8, 2024. The World Judo Tour made its final stop of 2024, ending the year in Tokyo, Japan, the homeland of judo.

A total of 286 judoka from 47 nations capped off the Paris 2024 Olympic year in spectacular fashion at the prestigious Tokyo Grand Slam, hosted in the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Under the guidance of Mongolia's Head Coaches, Erdenebayar Uuganbayar and Bundmaa Munkhbaatar, a team of nine male and 11 female judokas competed at the final Grand Slam of 2024.

On the first day of the Grand Slam, young judoka of Mongolia, Ariunzaya Terbish, the Gold Medalist of the 2024 Lima World Championships Cadets Individuals, earned a bronze medal in the women’s -57 kg category.

Seventeen-year-old Ariunzaya defeated Dana Abdirova from Kazakhstan in the round of 32 and Irina Zueva from Russia in the round of 16. Unfortunately, she lost to Megumi Fuchida from Japan in the quarter-final. In the repechage, Ariunzaya triumphed over top-tier Brazilian judoka Jessica Lima.

For the bronze medal match, Ariunzaya faced Japan's Momo Tamaoki, the World Silver and Bronze Medalist. She secured victory with one waza-ari during the golden score, earning her first Grand Slam medal.

Prior to the Tokyo Grand Slam, she had claimed victory in the "Sensei Cup" and the "Top-6" tournaments held in Mongolia.
