Mongolian Judoka Narantsetseg Wins Her Eighth Grand Slam Medal

Ulaanbaatar, March 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 2025 Tbilisi Grand Slam Tournament held in Tbilisi, Georgia, concluded on March 23, 2025, with Mongolia securing one gold medal.


On the first day of the Tournament, International Master of Sports Narantsetseg Ganbaatar clinched the gold medal in the women's 48 kg category, resonating the National Anthem of Mongolia in Tbilisi. She defeated Huh Mio of the Republic of Korea, Laura Martinez Abelenda of the Kingdom of Spain, Shirine Boukli of the French Republic, and Perez Soler Eva of the Kingdom of Spain in succession. With this victory, Narantsetseg has now earned her eighth Grand Slam Tournament medal. The 30-year-old judoka now holds two gold, one silver, and five bronze medals. This marks her second medal from the Tbilisi Grand Slam, having previously won the bronze medal in 2023.


With Narantsetseg winning the gold medal, Mongolia ranks sixth among 52 participating countries. A total of 19 Mongolian judokas competed in the first Grand Slam of 2025, with six additional athletes securing top positions aside from Narantsetseg's gold medal.


The National Judo Team of Mongolia's next competition will be the 2025 Asian Senior Championships Bangkok, scheduled in April 2025 in Thailand.
