Mongol Wrestlers Win Three Medals on the First Day of Asian Championships

Ulaanbaatar, March 28, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Asian Adult Wrestling Championships kicked off in Amman, the capital of Jordan, on March 27, 2025, with medalists crowned in five women's weight categories.
From Mongolia, a total of 20 athletes — 10 men and 10 women — are competing under the guidance of Head Coaches D. Gombodorj and S. Sukhbaatar, along with Coaches J. Chuluunbat, G. Amarkhuu, B. Odonchimeg, and U. Uuganbayar.
On the first day, bouts were held in the women’s 50, 55, 59, 68, and 76 kg weight categories, and three Mongol athletes secured bronze medals.
Specifically, in the 50 kg category, the young Master of Sports of Mongolia B. Munkhnar defeated Kazakhstan’s Svetlana Ankicheva, a Silver Medalist at the World Junior Championships, earning Mongolia’s first medal of the Asian Adult Wrestling Championships. This marks Munkhnar’s first medal from a Continental Championship.
In the 55 kg weight category, B. Otgontuya claimed a decisive victory over India’s Nishu Nishu by a pin, securing her first medal at an Adult Asian Championship. She had previously won two gold medals at the U23 Asian Championships.
In the 68 kg class, World Championships Silver Medalist E. Delgermaa overpowered Kazakhstan’s Gulnara Tashtanbekova with a commanding 14:2 score, winning her fourth Continental Championship medal. She has previously earned gold, silver, and bronze at this level.
