Traveling or Hiking in Green Areas of Ulaanbaatar Prohibited Due to Risk of Wildfires

Ulaanbaatar, March 31, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring of Mongolia reported that the green areas of Ulaanbaatar City are at "very high" and "high" levels of fire risk according to the forest and steppe fire risk assessment.
In connection with the increased risk, the use of forest resources, hiking, traveling, graduation celebrations, and making open fires in the green areas of the capital city have been prohibited under the Decree No. A/373 “On Some Measures to Prevent Forest and Steppe Fires” of the Governor of the Capital City. Specifically, travel to the green areas is prohibited from March 28 to June 10, 2025, and from September 20 to November 10, 2025.
According to the National Emergency Management Agency, as of 2025, 32 calls for yellow grass fires caused by the careless actions of citizens have been registered in Ulaanbaatar.
