Ulaanbaatar, April 14, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian novice monks studying in the Republic of India will be enrolled in general education programs, as well as in training on Mongolian language, script, and culture.

The Ministry of Education of Mongolia carried out a registration process and assessment of the educational rights of children and youth enrolled at Buddhist monasteries and temples in India. Based on the findings, measures will be taken to facilitate their inclusion in programs designed to compensate for general education.

Currently, 407 children and youth are studying at 14 Buddhist monasteries and temples in India. In consultation with the heads of these religious institutions, the Ministry of Education of Mongolia has decided to integrate them into general and compensatory education programs aligned with their existing schedules. Plans are also in place to involve them in courses on the Mongolian language, script, and cultural heritage. According to the Ministry of Education, this initiative will enable the students to have their education obtained in India recognized and aligned with Mongolia's official education system.
