Ana Brian Nougrères: In the Age of Advancing AI, Safeguarding Personal Security is Crucial

Ulaanbaatar, April 11, 2025 /MONTSAME/. State Secretary of the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection of Mongolia L. Munkhzul met with United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy Ana Brian Nougrères on April 11, 2025.


At the meeting, the officials discussed key issues concerning personal data protection in the digital era, including the right to privacy, the cross-border transfer of data, cybersecurity, monitoring on social media platforms, the confidentiality of sensitive personal data for vulnerable groups, and the use of biometric and AI-based information systems.


Special Rapporteur Ana Brian Nougrères emphasized that as artificial intelligence continues to advance, it is essential for governments to ensure the protection of personal data and maintain the security of centralized information databases.


Mongolia is working to protect personal information through legislation such as the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, the Law on Public Information Transparency, and the Law on Cybersecurity.
