National Audit Office of Mongolia Launches Performance Audit on Water and Sanitation Projects

Ulaanbaatar, May 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On May 2, 2025, the National Audit Office of Mongolia launched a performance audit focusing on the country’s drinking water and sanitation projects and programs. 


The audit will be conducted on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6.1 and 6.2 to evaluate the effectiveness of government policies in ensuring access to clean water and adequate sanitation for the population. The findings will be presented to the Standing Committee on Budget of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia, as well as to relevant organizations and officials.


Enkhbold Delger, Director of the Performance and Compliance Audit Department and Principal Auditor at the National Audit Office of Mongolia, opened the audit. He outlined the audit’s plan and program, highlighting key issues that require attention during the evaluation process. 


The audit will encompass the Government, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing, along with their affiliated organizations. It will also include the Water Department, River Basin Authorities of 21 aimags, Citizens’ Representative Khurals and Governor’s Offices of aimags and Ulaanbaatar City, the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, and other relevant organizations.
