Ulaanbaatar, May 9, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia will stage Adolphe Adam’s Ballet “Giselle” on May 10-11, 2025.
This year's performance is particularly special as it features Principal Dancers Klim Efimov and Anastasia Stashkevich of the renowned Bolshoi Theatre of the Russian Federation in the lead roles. "Giselle" is a timeless masterpiece in the classical arts, having been staged for over 300 years in its original version and choreography.
Director of the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Altankhuyag Dugaraa highlighted, “Giselle” was first performed in France in 1841. Although it has European origins, it has been staged numerous times at our opera house. This Ballet is deeply meaningful. Its themes transcend time — past, present, and future — maintaining their relevance to humanity. Audiences around the world could see love, betrayal, and forgiveness in this ballet. It also evokes deep emotions and presents the supernatural, harmonizing with the beauty of nature. Taking the time to watch opera and ballet offers great mental solace. Additionally, it is a Ballet expressed through the magnificent art of music.”
Klim Efimov will portray the role of Albrecht, and Anastasia Stashkevich will play the role of Giselle. The two dancers are acclaimed not only for exceptional dance technique and skill, but also for their powerful acting abilities.
Additionally, though "Giselle" was re-choreographed in 2022, it has proven to be a timeless work that resists transforming into a modern ballet. This Ballet was first staged in Mongolia in 1979 at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
