Ulaanbaatar, June 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. While visiting agricultural sites, State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Jambaltseren Tumur-Uya met with farmers, receiving feedback and discussing relevant measures on support and incentives.

The company “Orkhon Tushig Ugrats” is working to harvest watermelons early this year from six of the total of 10 hectares of land. By planting seeds in greenhouses, then transferring them onto fields, the enterprise’s farmers expect to put early-harvest watermelons out for sale starting July 15, 2025. Furthermore, they have commenced cultivation using technology that uses a gas-powered seeder to plant vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, and beets, enabling harvesting with a combine harvester in the autumn. This solves labor shortages typically faced during harvest seasons, relieves harvesting costs, and reduces the value-added costs of vegetables, offering consumers more affordable produce.

Within the framework of the “Food Supply and Security” National Movement, incentives provided for vegetable cultivation over the past three years have boosted farmers' motivation and significantly increased production. As a result, growers noted that domestic demands for certain types of vegetables can now be fully met.
