Trilateral Efforts to Continue Joint Conservation and Research of Rare Bird Species

Ulaanbaatar, June 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 8th meeting of the Joint Commission of the Dauria International Protected Area, jointly established by Mongolia, the People's Republic of China, and the Russian Federation, was held in Choibalsan, Dornod aimag, on June 17-20, 2025.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the results of nature
conservation cooperation from 2020 to 2024 and approved the action plan for
2025–2029. Discussions and agreements also focused on implementing joint
preventive measures to mitigate negative impacts on the ecosystems of the Dauria
International Protected Area and its surrounding areas, preventing
transboundary wildfires, organizing joint training exercises, continuing the
conservation and research of rare bird species, using tracking devices in
research, and expanding biological and migratory studies. The date for the 9th
Joint Commission meeting was also confirmed.
The meeting was co-organized by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia and the Eastern Mongolia Strictly Protected Area Administration of the Special Protected Areas. Participants included Mr. Battsogt Dogsom, Director of the Policy Implementation and Coordination Department for Special Protected Areas of Mongolia, Mr. Artur Vladislavovich Chertov, Deputy Director of the Department of Protected Areas Development and Regulation under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, and a delegation from China led by Mr. Wu Xiupeng, Chief Scientist and Director at the Academy of Environmental and Scientific Research of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China.
