Ulaanbaatar, August 27, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry (MMHI) Damdinnyam Gongor received representatives of the Zero Carbon Engine Technology Group from the People’s Republic of China.

The delegates noted that Holingol City, China, possesses rich coal reserves, which have served as the foundation for the development of an industrial network. This network includes coal-fired power generation, aluminum alloy production, and downstream aluminum processing industries. They also introduced a project aimed at establishing a model industrial complex in Sukhbaatar aimag of Mongolia, following this example.

The carbon-neutral industrial park project has a production capacity of 3.5 million tons of aluminum, including a renewable energy power station, an energy storage system, and a thermal power plant to supply energy to the aluminum manufacturing facilities.

Minister Damdinyam at the meeting emphasized, "Establishing such an industrial park is a critical necessity for Mongolia, highlighting that it is a large-scale undertaking requiring time, technology, and significant investment." Minister Damdinnyam affirmed that MMHI will support the implementation of the project.
