Bronze Medal Secured at Tashkent Grand Slam 2024

Ulaanbaatar, March 4, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 2024 Judo Grand Slam Tashkent was held at the Humo Arena in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on March 1-3, 2024.


Out of the 14 athletes from Mongolia, Sosorbaram Lkhagvasuren, the Youth World Champion and International Master of Sports, won bronze medal in the women's -52 kg category. She defeated Mascha Ballhaus of Germany, Paulina Martínez of Mexico, and Sofia Asvesta of Cyprus to win the group title. In the bronze medal match, Sosorbaram defeated the young Japanese judoka Kokoro Fujishiro and stood on the podium.


In this Grand Slam, 23 countries returned home with medals, with nine countries winning gold medals. France led in total medals, with three golds, two silvers, and one bronze, followed by Japan and Uzbekistan. The teams of Germany, Italy, Belgium, China, Greece, and Tajikistan also won gold medals.


The Mongolian judo team ranked 17th with one bronze medal and one 5th place finish.
