Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ According to a decree of the Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold, a 15-person working group on organizing measures to reduce air pollution was set up with a chair Yo.Baatarbileg, MP and Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science.

On January 27, head of the working group Yo.Baatarbileg, MP and chairman of Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science and the working group members D.Terbishdagva, Environment and Tourism Minister N.Tserenbat and specialists from the Governor's Office of Ulaanbaatar, Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Environment and Tourism got familiar with activities of organizations that are working to reduce air pollution.

The working tour commenced with an introduction of a project ‘Harmonization’ being implemented by ‘MIH’ Group in Bayanzurkh district. The project aims at upgrading ger district into eco-house towns where infrastructure engineering is resolved and making ger district households live comfortable with low living cost.

Afterwards, they were heard a progress of the project Development of Ger district of Ulaanbaatar city and Investment Support. Within the project, Ulaanbaatar’s sub-centers  such as Selbe and Bayankhoshuu will be developed into a regional center that will have eco-friendly green environment, alongside being trade, cultural and other service center. Currently, land-freeing action runs at 70 percent in Bayankhoshuu ger district.

Moreover, the working group members headed to the passenger train depot of Ulaanbaatar Railway JSC, where Kh.Zorigoo, general engineer of the train depot, introduced its study on passenger train, which uses solid fuels, and reported on works to use smokeless fuel in trains. The passenger train depot is working to use advanced technology to reduce air pollution and create comfortable and healthy environment for passengers and workers.
The last visit site of the working group was a model house built by ‘Mongol Tulsh’ LLC in Khan-Uul district. The company is implementing a project to resolve heating, cooling and hot water distribution of buildings with underground heat. The renewable energy constantly existing in 50-150 meter depth is possible to be used to heat buildings and water. Installation of an underground pump in a certain region will give potential to create an energy system useful for 50-80 years, identically to creating a central energy grid, reported B.Battulga, the company’s advisor.

Concluding the visit, MP and head of the working group Yo.Baatarbileg said, “We got familiar with some kinds of technological solutions of heating in combat with air pollution. It needs a government’s bold decision. We will render policy supports to the government in regard to reduction of air pollution and focus on implementations of measures to reduce air pollution.”
