Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On March 23 the National University of Mongolia (NUM) and its startup company MBP lab LLC concluded a patent license agreement to produce herbal anti-acne preparation and support its sales at the domestic market.

As a result of studies over one decade NUM scholars have produced antibacterial preparation from Comarum salesovianum and got a patent. The new product PHYTO-ACNE, produced using the patent is ready for the market.

“According to new strategic plan of 2016, we are aiming to transform the NUM into a research-based university, which emphasizes the development of training, research, innovation and production based entrepreneurship. Establishing a startup company at the university is a great way for students to create jobs, contribute to economic development, increase domestic production and diversify the university income. I’m hopeful that more of our scholars will contribute to the implementation of the strategic plans with their works” said the President of NUM Ya.Tumurbaatar.

“Most of the anti-acne products in our country are imported and contain antibiotics. Therefore, we started a survey on herbal product that is suitable for Mongolians' skin. According to Mongolian and Japanese scholars’ ten year studies the comarum salesovianum’s is low-toxic and phenolic lipid compounds contained in it are highly antibacterial active. This agreement will greatly contribute to the production and sales of the PHYTO-ACNE” noted founder of the MBP lab LLC, professor of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences  J.Batkhuu.

Studies on further improvement of the product are ongoing.
