Construction of Mongolian first oil refinery to begin

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The foundation-laying ceremony of the first oil refinery in Mongolia will be held in Dornogobi aimag on June 22.
To be built with financing of USD 1 billion soft loan of the Indian Government, the oil refinery will have a processing capacity of 1.5 million tons of oil. As estimated, the oil refinery will produce 560 thousand tons of gasoline, 670 thousand tons of diesel fuel, and 107 thousand tons of liquefied gas per year.
According to the decision of the Cabinet, 150 ha of land in Altanshiree soum, Dornogobi aimag has been designated for the oil refinery.
Construction work of refinery is expected to complete in late 2022. Additionally, construction of 20km long railway between Sainshand, center of Dornod aimag and Altanshiree and a heavy vehicle road as well as transmission line works will be implemented.
The Prime Minister of Mongolia, representatives of India and other relevant officials will attended the ceremony.
In connection to the construction work, the Prime Minister informed previously that a working group will oversee every stage of the project. The working group consists of officials from the Mongolian oil Refinery state-owned company, the Government Agency for Policy Coordination on State Property, the National Audit Office, the General Intelligence Agency, Independent Authority Against Corruption, the National Police Agency, and the General Authority for Specialized Inspection.
