MONTSAME National News Agency in cooperation with the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery is presenting a series of Mongolian fine art masterpieces. Now, we are presenting the artwork, ‘Jargaltain Delger’ by State Prize laureate B.Purevsukh.

The artwork, created with oil paint on a 90x71 cm linen in 1979, portrays an old-hand herder sitting in front of the sheep herd while smoking his pipe and having shallow thoughts.

Scenery of countryside and life of the humble herder families are reflected in the picture with the pleasant view of summer, mountains, hills, contours of the far-flung soum center and a wrangler in red deel struggling to lasso a buckskin stallion. The way that the herder’s countenance and his hand holding the pipe painted in detail represents traditional Mongolian painting style.

In 1986-1991, Painter B.Purevsukh worked as concept artist of the films ‘Queen Mandukhai the Wise’ and ‘Under the Eternal Blue Sky’, creating dozens of sketches, designs and drawings.

Artwork explained by: Aesthetician T.Selenge
