Women MPs hold meeting with UNDP Resident Representative

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On October 21, representatives of women MPs held a meeting with UNDP Resident Representative Elaine M. Conkievich.


MP, Head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Policy M.Oyunchimeg, MPs Ts.Munkhtsetseg, A.Adiyasuren, and B.Saranchimeg as well as other corresponding officials attended the meeting.

 

With support from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), UNDP is carrying out works to implement a project on supporting gender equality and the participation of women at the decision-making level until 2024. During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation opportunities to increase women’s participation in politics in the framework of the project. 

 

 

The women MPs expressed their readiness to cooperate in matters such as enhancing the corresponding legislation on women MPs, carrying out studies for drafting a bill, organizing multilateral discussions, organizing national and international conferences on supporting the participation of women in politics, increasing the number of women interested in running for future elections, and providing them with support through motivation as well as assistance in works to run for elections. 


Furthermore, both sides highlighted the importance of improving voters’ knowledge on gender equality, and exchanged views on cooperating with political parties and womens’ associations based at political parties.
