Prime Minister receives MCC representatives

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On March 14, Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene
received Vice President of Compact Operations at the U.S. Millennium Challenge
Corporation (MCC) Ms. Fatima Sumar, who is on a visit to Mongolia.
Emphasizing that the Government of Mongolia attaches great
importance to the Water Compact being jointly implemented with the U.S.
Millennium Challenge Corporation, Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene expressed commitment
to provide all-round support for the successful implementation of the project. It
is important that Ulaanbaatar city’s water supply issue is being comprehensively
resolved and the water supply system is being modernized within to the compact
agreement.
The parties noted that relevant works, including the announcement
of bids for wastewater recycling plant and development of a blueprint of
transmission line, are progressing on time despite the pandemic.
PM said, “From the first day of this year, the Government of
Mongolia has been implementing a ‘New Revival Policy’, which aims at paving a
way to implement the country’s long-term development policy ‘Vision 2050’, addressing
hurdles in the development and reviving the economy during the pandemic. The
MCC’s Water Compact is significant for fulfilling an objective ‘Urban and rural
revival’ in the New Revival Policy.”
‘Mongolia Economic Forum’ will be held in Ulaanbaatar next
month and the PM stressed the importance of the active participation of
citizens, entrepreneurs and foreign and domestic investors in this event. He also
said that the government plans to listen to the opinions of donor organizations
such as the United Nations and the MCC.
