Prime Minister Zandanshatar Meets Chinese Premier Li Qiang

Ulaanbaatar, November 19, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia, Zandanshatar Gombojav, met with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, in Moscow, where the two sides held substantive discussions on strengthening strategic cooperation in the fields of infrastructure and energy.
Prime Minister Zandanshatar emphasized the importance of aligning Mongolia and China’s national development and infrastructure strategies. He underscored Mongolia’s commitment to advancing the phased construction of key cross-border railway corridors, namely Shiveekhuren-Sekhee, Khangi-Mandal, and Bichigt-Zuunkhatavch, which are expected to enhance regional connectivity and facilitate trade flows.
To strengthen economic relations, Prime Minister Zandanshatar proposed increasing Mongolia’s annual coal exports to China to 100 million tonnes. He also noted the need to diversify the bilateral trade structure and expand overall trade volume to USD 20 billion. In support of this objective, he advocated for enhancing mutual quarantine arrangements for agricultural products to broaden market access and improve trade efficiency.
Premier Li Qiang welcomed Mongolia’s proposals and expressed confidence in the enduring and long-term stability of Mongolia-China relations. He affirmed that China’s vast market remains open to Mongolian exports and underscored Beijing’s readiness to deepen economic engagement.
The two sides reaffirmed the significance of building a natural gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolia, describing it as a key project for regional energy cooperation.
