Senior Officials’ talks between Foreign Ministries held in Canberra

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 4th Senior Officials’ Talks between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia was held in Canberra on March 29, 2022. The meeting was chaired by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia N.Ankhbayar, and Deputy Secretary of the Geostrategic Group of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia Justin Hayhurst respectively.
During the Senior
Officials’ Talks, both sides discussed and exchanged views on the current state
of the bilateral relationship, joint events, and activities to be organized within
the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, cooperation
in the areas including politics, trade, and investment, agriculture, mining,
education as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest.
State Secretary N.Ankhbayar held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Secretary Justin Hayhurst and attended the opening ceremony of the “Mongolia room” of the Mongolia Institute at the Australian National University. He also met with Chancellor of the Australian National University and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Julie Bishop, and Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University and Nobel Prize laureate Professor Brian Schmidt, and discussed the possibilities of further promoting Mongolian studies in Australia, enhancing university partnerships and increasing student exchanges. Also, State Secretary N.Ankhbayar held meetings with Deputy CEO of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission Philippa King, as well as Australian business representatives, and exchanged views on boosting trade and investment and implementing joint programmes and projects.
