Parking Lots to Be Built at 90 Locations in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar, April 1, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Ulaanbaatar City plans to build parking lots with international franchise services at 90 locations.
During a recent operational meeting of city officials, General Architect of Ulaanbaatar Tugsdelger Chinbat highlighted, "There are 113,356 parking spaces at 1,801 locations across the six central districts of Ulaanbaatar City. We've conducted a study on parking usage and demand from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the demand varies depending on the purpose of parking. During the day, demand is high near office buildings; at night, it's high in residential areas; and in mixed-use zones, demand is consistently high. For example, around Baga Toiruu, drivers spend an average of 26 minutes looking for parking. To increase parking availability, we need an additional 119,676 spaces. Therefore, we plan to build parking lots with international franchise services and an underground parking facility with a capacity of approximately 7,000 vehicles near the 120 Myangat area in Khan-Uul district. Building franchise parking lots will increase parking availability to 75 percent."
Currently, households living in apartments in Ulaanbaatar own a total of 199,676 vehicles, while there are only 80 thousand parking spaces, resulting in a parking availability rate of 40.1 percent.
