The National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia Performs Living-Donor Kidney Transplant

Ulaanbaatar, May 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia has successfully performed its first living-donor kidney transplant on a child. This surgery marks the 410th kidney transplant in Mongolia, the 15th performed on a child, and the very first pediatric living-donor transplant at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health.


Under the cooperation between the National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia and the First State Central Hospital of Mongolia, a 13-year-old child a 13-year-old child underwent a kidney transplant, with the mother serving as the donor.


Mongolia first introduced pediatric kidney transplant procedures in 2006, with these surgeries primarily being performed at the First State Central Hospital.
