Ulaanbaatar, November 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Capital city of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, and the city of Boryeong in the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on November 7, 2025.
The Memorandum was signed by Deputy Governor of the Capital City of Mongolia, Amartuvshin Amgalanbayar, and Mayor of Boryeong City of South Korea, Kim Dong-il. The Agreement lays the groundwork for broad cooperation between the two cities in culture, tourism, education, economic development, and environmental protection.
Mongolia and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic relations on March 26, 1990, marking the 35th anniversary of their partnership this year. The bilateral relationship has since expanded into multiple sectors, evolving into a historically and strategically significant partnership.
In 1990, the trade turnover between the two countries stood at USD 2.7 million, which rose to USD 620 million by the end of 2024. Mongolia primarily imports automobiles, tobacco, and cosmetics from the Republic of Korea, while exporting molybdenum, fluorspar, and cashmere products, according to the Media and Public Relations Department of the Mayor’s Office of Ulaanbaatar City.
