Russian Buryat sculptor becomes Mongolia's State Prize holder

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ By Mongolian President's decree, the State Prize has been bestowed upon Dashi Namdakov, a painter and sculptor of Russian Buryatia Republic, "for his big works showing characteristics of Mongolian ethnographical history, traditions, culture, philosophy and ideology and to intellectual works of the humankind".

The prize granting ceremony took place Wednesday at the State House, the President’s decree was sounded by P.Tsagaan, a head of the Presidential Office.

Namdakov was born in 1967 in Russian Buryatia Republic, he graduated from the Art University of Krasnoyarsk in 1992, and has been working as a creative artist since 1990s in his birthplace--Ulan-Ude city.

He has mounted several exhibitions in Asia, Europe and America, receiving international awards. Some of his creations are placed in art museums of 25 countries. One of his famous works is the sculptor of Chingis Khaan, which was temporarily located in the Hyde Park of London. His works are kept in collections of politicians and businessmen of Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, USA, Japan and China.
