Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Expo Mongolia 2017, a trade fair for private entities engaged in all sectors, such as, construction, mining, food and environment opened for the fifth year in the Misheel Expo Center on October 10.
Mongolia is well-renowned in the world by its natural resources. However, it is time to focus on developing other sectors and diversify the economy that is heavily dependent on mining, said Ingo Clover, CEO of the Expo Mongolia 21 LLC during the opening ceremony.
He said, "We are setting goals to promote Mongolian non-mining sectors in the world. I am confident that many business entities gathered here today will find their business partners and open more opportunities for development,"
President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga delivered a message to the event's opening. He noted that the Expo opens many opportunities for entering new market for Mongolian entities and expanding business environment, while creating waits for both domestic and foreign entities.
“I am grateful towards the event for introducing modern cutting-edge technology, machinery and innovative ideas. Mongolia is a country with high-potential for development. Currently, the mining sector plays a main role in the country’s economic development and we are aiming to become agriculture-based industrialized country. The fact that many world-renowned companies participating in this trade fair and looking for opportunities to run business in Mongolia is boosting the process to introduce European standard in Mongolia,” the President said in his message.
Around 50 business entities from Mongolia, China, Germany, India, the USA and the Republic of Korea are participating in the Expo. From Germany, an energy-efficient heating equipment producer, the Stiebel Eltron LL, produces all types of heating equipment suitable for residential and mobile homes. This company, which is operating for two years since its establishment, has selected Mongolia as its first foreign market. The Xtreme Farm Limited LLC produces containers that could be used as accommodation. Inside the container, all types of vegetables including mushrooms can be grown. The Embassies of foreign countries in Mongolia introduced their functions at the Expo. The Embassy of the United Kingdom has introduced the Chevening Scholarship Program for postgraduate students. This program provides academic education and skills for young people and allows them to study English history and culture.
The Embassy of India in Mongolia presented major events to be held in 2017 and 2018, and it is registering participants. For instance, the World Food India 2017 will be organized on November 3-5, the FICCI Higher Education Summit 2017--on November 9-11 and the APEX, an event for pharmaceuticals and healthcare products--in 2018.
Second Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Mongolia Ravi Shanker Goel said that the annual trade turnover between Mongolia and India has reached around USD 25 million, but figure has not reached a satisfactory level.
“The political relations between our countries are highly developed. Now we need to expand our economic relations. We are providing free plane tickets and hotels for business entities that are interested in participating in our events. India can cooperate with Mongolia in many spheres, such as, education, health and mining. Moreover, we could cooperate in the film industry, for instance, Bollywood movies shooting can take place in Mongolia. If this happens, many tourists will be interested in visiting Mongolia from our country. Currently, talks are continuing between our countries to open direct flights. The Indian side fully supports this matter. I would like to ask the Government of Mongolia to focus attention on this issue,” Ravi Shanker Goel said.
The Expo Mongolia 2017 international trade fair and forum will last until October 12.
