Ulaanbaatar/ MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place on Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the International Association for Mongol Studies (IAMS) in the Ikh Tenger Complex. President of Mongolia and Vice President of the IAMS Kh.Battulga addressed the event.

The President congratulated guests on the anniversary, and said, “30 years is only a small part of the overall Mongol studies history. Inception of this organization can also be traced back to late 1950s and early 1960.  Many scholars agree that history of Mongolia is the history of Asia and Europe. This is one of the reasons to be proud of being Mongolian,”

The President told the gathered that he was first connected to the IAMS in order to help them in achieving their goals and gave some financing in 2015.

“I am always pleased to help scientists, researchers and historians. These people’s interests are not materialistic. I had quite a few ideas which have been reflected in the 2017 and 2018 action plans of IAMS. The ideas included organizing annual conferences of Mongolists in Asia, Europe and Americas, awarding the best papers and research works on Mongolian studies with cash prizes in the name of the association. I thought this would be a huge encouragement for the scholars to work harder. These works are being implemented one by one. They will continue in the future,” said President Battulga.

Kh.Battulga promised to continue and upgrade his support for the organization as being served as the President of Mongolia. “The fact that Eurasian history cannot be written without mentioning Mongolia defines the great volume of work we all be doing,” he said.

“I see that there is a possibility to effectively integrate Mongolian studies into educational system. History of Mongolia can even outshine the wave of internet and social media in these times of rapid globalization, I reckon,” he said.
