UB Mayor becomes member of ICLEI Board

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold has been elected as a Board Member of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) for the East Asian Region to serve from 2018 to 2021.
Headquarted in Germany’s Bonn and South Korean Seoul cities, the ICLEI is the leading global network of more than 1,500 cities, towns and regions committed to building a sustainable future. By helping the ICLEI Network to become sustainable, low-carbon, resilient, ecomobile, biodiverse, resource-efficient and productive, healthy and happy, with a green economy and smart infrastructure, we impact over 25% of the global urban population.
The ICLEI envisions a world of sustainable cities that confront the realities of urbanization, adapt to economic and demographic trends and prepare for the impacts of climate change and other urban challenges. With funds from the ICLEI, some projects have been launched on the climate change in Ulaanbaatar and green development, which directed at reducing air pollution in the capital city.
