President meets representatives of Heart Saving Project

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President Kh.Battulga received Wednesday representatives of the 'Heart Saving Project' NGO of Japan, including Usami Hiroyuki, the NGO’s Executive Director, B.Altantuya, a coordinator of the project, B.Ariuntuya, Head of the Voluntary Organization named ‘Heart Saving Project – Mongolia’ and B.Badral, project assistant.

Beginning the meeting, the President stated, “Thanks to the Heart Saving Project, many little lives were saved since 2001, when it started operations in Mongolia. A study indicates one in a hundred children in Mongolia has heart deformity. The number is likely to rise due to air and other environmental pollutions. I have been collaborating with this project in light of its not-for-profit purposes, and I will continue my assistance,”

Usami Hiroyuki said, “The project has completed medical tours through 21 aimags of Mongolia. In 2017, we worked in Khuvsgul and Khovd aimags,” and noted the project team would like to go to the aimags they went through once again to provide medical services to infants and children in need.
The Heart Saving Project has toured around all 21 aimags of Mongolia, involved about 6,000 children in tests for heart deformity and more than 560 children received free-of-charge heart operations that saved their lives.
In addition, the NGO has donated fire-fighting and ambulance trucks to Mongolian authorities.
