Ministry of Environment and Tourism celebrating its 30th anniversary

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Environment and Tourism held a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism at the Central Cultural Palace on December 18.
The ceremony meeting was attended by former authorities, members of the Parliament and Government, veteran workers and representatives of local environment department.
In his opening speech, N.Tserenbat, Minister of Environment and Tourism, congratulated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to former workers, veterans, current workers middle-aged generation and youths working in the sector, adding that 30 years ago, Mongolia established a central government administration in charge of environmental issues for the first time and started its operation under the name Ministry of Environment on December 09, 1987.
Minister N.Tserenbat further emphasized that the main objectives of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism are to maintain ecological balance, use natural resources properly, and create condition for environment to be rehabilitated by its own. Moreover, the Ministry is working on keeping nature balance by developing ecologically friendly sustainable tourism, initiating collaboration among government, citizens, and entities to sustain green development and ensuring human rights to live in safe and healthy condition.
As of today, the Research Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment, 30 Special Protected Areas Administration, 20 River Basin Administration, the Freshwater Resources and Nature Conservation Center, the Forest Research and Development Center, State-owned organizations including Mongol Water, Mongolia and Kuwait Research Center, the Sustainable Tourism Development Center NGO, and other Nature Conservation Found are operating under the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
